“We had our wedding at The Stables Matakana in March, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
From the very beginning, the team was incredibly supportive, patient, and genuinely invested in helping us create our perfect day. As a couple with very little idea of how to plan a wedding, we felt completely at ease knowing we were in such capable hands. They were always willing to discuss ideas, offer guidance, and go the extra mile to make everything come together beautifully.
A special thank you to Rebecca, Kathy, Kim, Kelvin, and the whole team — everyone was so professional, creative, and helpful throughout the entire process. Their attention to detail and calm, reassuring approach made such a difference.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning and exactly what I had always dreamed of. The rustic charm, fairy lights, barrels, and cozy fireplace created such a warm and magical atmosphere. There’s also a lovely church on-site for beautiful photos, and having the beach nearby gave us even more amazing photo opportunities.
We also loved that the venue offers both indoor and outdoor options, each providing a gorgeous setting for the ceremony and photos. It really gave us flexibility and peace of mind.
The food and drinks were another highlight of the day. From the welcome bubbles to the canapés and the reception dinner, everything was absolutely delicious. All of our guests were extremely happy with the food, and many commented on how great it was. The team also catered seamlessly to special dietary requirements, which we really appreciated.
The steak was perfectly cooked — tender and literally melting in my mouth! Honestly, my only “regret” of the day was not being able to eat more… but my wedding dress had other plans!

“We honestly could not have asked for a better experience with The Stables for our wedding day.
Even though we had planned for a beautiful summer celebration, the heavens absolutely opened—but the team handled it flawlessly. They quickly moved everything under cover just outside, and somehow it became even more special. The space felt so intimate and cosy that we both agreed it was actually better than what we had originally envisioned outdoors.
What stood out the most for me was how little I had to think about on the day—and that says a lot, because I’m a complete control freak. I was able to just turn up and be present. The team guided me through everything, telling me exactly where I needed to be and when. It was such a relief to let go and fully enjoy every moment.
The food was exceptional—something our guests are still talking about. And throughout the day, the communication was seamless. They kept us updated on things like the bar tab and checked in at the right moments for decisions, without ever making it feel stressful or intrusive.
The day was perfect, and I genuinely don’t believe it would have turned out the way it did if we hadn’t chosen this venue. Not only was it the most affordable option for us, but it also came with an incredible team who helped bring our vision to life.
If I had to do it all again, I would choose The Stables without hesitation—and we’ll absolutely be back for future events.”

“I can not recommend The Stables enough. It’s been nearly two weeks since my wedding and I am still floating on cloud 9 with how well it all went. From the beginning, Livy was amazing to deal with, showing us around the venue and helping us lock everything all in. The wedding pack and great communication and follow up from both Livy and Kim helped keep us on track, and my questions and requests were answered so quickly. The venue was set up so perfectly with the decorations we provided, and the care and attention to detail was so evident. The venue itself is stunning, and was perfect for our large wedding, never feeling over crowded. Throughout the wedding night Kim was incredible, constantly checking in, seeing if we needed anything, and making sure everything went 100% smoothly.
